Almendra Fantilli (1992) works at the intersection of documentary photography, research, and cultural dissemination. Her practice explores socio-religious identities and the ways they inhabit secularized contexts, combining analytical rigor with an affective, critical, and poetic perspective. She is deeply moved by stories in which faith and resistance intersect — where hope can function both as an instrument of power and as a refuge for those who have nothing.
In 2021, she directed the feature-length documentary El Culto: A Portrait of Evangelical Gatherings, which was presented at national and international film festivals. She has also directed documentary short films about Protestant communities in Costa Rica (2022) and Spain (2024). Alongside her photographic and audiovisual practice, Fantilli develops educational and outreach work within both religious and non-religious environments, in person and through digital platforms. Her project and photobook dummy El goce otro was a finalist at FELIFA 2025 (Argentina) and received the CREO 2025 Narrative Exploration Grant (Colombia). She was also a finalist for the Joan Biarnés Grant 2025 (Spain).
