About Cristina Rey

Cristina Rey is a visual artist and artistic director. She began drawing at the age of 11 at San Eloy school. Her interest in photography emerged during her adolescence, when she discovered her mother’s 35 mm Yashica camera and started photographing her friends and surroundings. In 2005, she won her first photography contest and later studied Art History in Salamanca and Rome, as well as completing two master’s programs in imaging in Barcelona (ELISAVA), London (Saint Martins), and Granada. Her work focuses on the play of light and shadow, with warm tones in unsettling scenes. Composition is crucial for her, as she seeks the perfect harmony between elements and the melancholic atmosphere of her images. Although primarily dedicated to photography, she also explores other art forms. She draws inspiration from cinema, music, skating, and surfing, which has led her to collaborate with brands such as Dr. Martens, Carhartt, Diamond Supply, and Dior.
